Pamela Haynes

Seal Cove, Maine

Even though Pam was born and raised in Massachusetts, her family roots go back to the 1700’s in northern and mid coastal Maine.  And she has always felt  that both Massachusetts and Maine are her home.  She spends her time throughout the year alternating between her home in the small town of Boylston, Massachusetts and her home in the small town of Seal Cove, Maine.

Pam began painting as a teenager in oils and painted for many years in that medium.  She has grown through self-learning and individual courses.  Recently, she began painting in acrylics and watercolors.  She now works primarily in watercolors doing a wide range of subjects from her many photographs taken throughout the year.

Working to capture the movement and play of light, Pam paints by layering bold colors.  Each painting tells a story of places, special spots or subjects she finds fascinating.  She finds it is more than capturing a moment.  It is being there.

Pam graduated from University of Maryland with a BS in education.  For a few years, Pam taught and made porcelain dolls.  Painting the dolls’ faces is an acquired art.  Her dolls were sold at Old Sturbridge Village and the Mark Twain House with her own designed period outfits.

Then Pam returned to school and received her MS in Ed. enabling her to teach at the college level for many years.  Upon retiring from her career as a business educator at a local college in 2005, Pam returned to her great love of painting; embracing her art.  By taking courses in watercolor and drawing, Pam has developed her own style and is doing what she loves best--painting.  Pam now devotes her time to painting enabling her to share her artwork on a new level.
