Donna-Lee Pierce Kettering

Maine

Donna-Lee Pierce Kettering does not let subject matter limit her work. She paints as she is compelled. Her emotionally driven and inspired work relates commonly recognizable instances through expressionist marks and color. Though expressionism seems consistent, her methods of representing imagery are diverse. Donna-Lee has a broad repertoire of technical skill for rendering. As an artist equally talented in representation as abstraction, she chooses to use each as a separate mode for different works. Her images are lyrical and flowing, as Donna-Lee's relationship with the material and process is apparently important. For the viewer, her paintings seem as though they are a simultaneous exploration and depiction. There is an engaging play between Donna-Lee and the formal elements that contain her work. This play engages the viewer as he or she explores the faceting and decision making processes of her work. The loose improvisational feel of her abstraction is engaging and never predictable. Her process of art making is generously shared with the viewer.

Her art has been shown in Boston and New York City and galleries in Savannah, Georgia - Hilton Head Island region as well as locally throughout Downeast Maine. Donna-Lee is also an accomplished muralist with works throughout the United States.  Artist Donna-Lee Pierce Kettering has a degree in Studio Fine Art in addition to a B.S. in Communications Media specializing in Graphic Design.
