Robin S. Rier’s passion is painting en plein air, yielding to nature’s elements, accepting the many challenges the outdoors can offer, and being a part of it. She also enjoys painting still lifes and from photographs taken during her travels. She works primarily in oil on canvas. Robin completed a two-year study in wooden boat building in Eastport, Maine in 1979. After raising a family, running a bed and breakfast and trying her hand at drawing, she eventually received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts with a concentration in Visual Arts from the University of Maine at Machias, 2002.
Robin has exhibited her paintings in numerous group, solo, and juried shows in Maine, and she participates in various area art events. Her work can be seen at Woodwind Gallery in Machias, Gray Wolf Gallery in Addison, the Peabody Memorial Library in Jonesport, Biddeford Savings Bank in Scarborough, and at her studio by appointment. She received the Second Place in Painting award, Bar Harbor Art by the Sea in 2009.
Born in 1948 in Providence, RI, Robin moved to Maine in 1976. She lives in Jonesport with her husband and cat.
